School Days

Little Backpacks are filled with all things new. Faces are bright and excitement fills the air. School has come and we are ready to embark on a new journey! Holding hands together on the way to school, crunching the leaves along the way, singing silly songs while skipping are all little joys of our morning time. Ben has joined a great little school and even wears a smart little uniform! He’s growing up and it’s truly a blessing to see! Little Miss Annie enjoys her little friends at the nursery school and loves her painting time, song time and socializing!

Locking ourselves out of the house, Ben throwing up on the train, Kenny breaking his little toe while jumping out of bed because Annie fell out of bed, getting pooped on by a pigeon while sitting at a cafe, and our sweet little Annie screaming at the top of her lungs while waiting in yet another line at Disneyland. I think the best one was when Annie and I were swimming at the Disney pool and after many “warnings” that it was time to go, I swooped her up and literally had to drag her little wet self across the pool deck while she screamed, “I want my MOMMY!” So, as if it wasn’t bad enough that she was screaming so loud, it now appeared as if I was taking her! Ha! Despite the stressful nature of it all, we did have a few happy memorable moments with the kids while at Disneyland. Watching Annie’s face light up when we took her on a little boat ride to “It’s a Small World” and hearing Ben’s joyful laughter as he rode the Elephant Dumbo ride with Kenny were two highlights. Albert Einstein said, “In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity.” Our opportunity was to learn a whole new level of patience for one another. We did just that! C’est la vie!!

Our Summer Whirlwind

Hello again from lovely London=) We have had a very busy summer with lots of family visitors=) Enjoy a few pictures and highlights from the summer. In the above picture, Ben and Annie are checking out the ocean from Brighton’s pebble beach. We have become professional “London tour guides” while helping all of our family visitors navigate their way in and out of the city. We are off to Paris next week for some sightseeing and Paris Disney=) Enjoy the rest of the summer!! We miss everyone! I’ve posted some more pictures in the albums section.

Wimbledon

A dream come true!!! Kenny took the day off to watch the kids so that I could go to Wimbledon! It was amazing. I took a cab to Car Park #10 where the “queue” started. I was there at 6:30 am and the number on my queue card was 2,513!! It was an amazing day of watching tennis and just soaking in the Wimbledon experience. In the above picture, I was watching Roger Federer warm up on one of the courts! I was also able to see some of the other top men’s players warm up as well. The atmosphere was so energizing and the level of play was outstanding! My friend Sara (from the states) met me later in the day and we watched the last match on the jumbo screen whilst atop the famous “hill.” I enjoyed the stawberries and cream as well and kept hydrated as it was near 90 degrees! It was the perfect day! Enjoy the pictures. I posted most of them under the albums section!

Stonehenge, Bath & Hurlingham Club

We headed out on a little road trip adventure to see Stonehenge and Bath London on Saturday. Driving through the English countryside was beautiful! The rolling hills and winding roads were quite fun! The picture above is the four of us at the Roman Baths. We also invited for lunch at the Hurlingham Club which is an exclusive club here in London. Our landlords (a really nice couple) invited us for the afternoon on Sunday. It was amazing and the kids had a great time. Enjoy some of the pictures from our weekend! As we were strolling up to our house here in London, I hear Annie say, “We’re home mommy!” Ben quickly chimes in and says, “No, Annie... we are not at our home. Our home is in Kansas City. This is our London house!”
We do miss everyone and hope that the summer is off to a great start! We love hearing from all of you!

Spring Soccer

We had our first soccer “session” with Ben and Annie this past week. We enrolled the kids in a few classes this summer and Ben had his first “Soccer Saturday” morning this past week. I loved sharing in his excitement and it brought back memories of when I began my soccer journey many years ago=) Annie joined in the fun as well and got right in there. She’s going to be a forward! “Go to the goal and shoot the ball”, as Grandpa would say. Ben did awesome as well! Enjoy some pictures!
